Fall ‘09 Goals

I scrapped my old goals list and have decided to just start over.

I’ve been thinking about my goals for this fall and decided what I needed to do was reorganize my goals into categories: Personal, Marriage, Family, Friends. This makes it easier for me to decide if something I want to do is 1) worth my time, 2) feasible, 3) necessary.

Listing out my goals/perceptions of things helps me to be able to filter through the noise of life and stay focused.

Personal

  • Run in a 5k, 10k, and 1/2 Marathon by November.
  • Successfully complete 18 hours of college coursework this fall.
  • Make strong headway in the Gr. V. Teacher training for ballet – prepare to take the exam in the spring/summer 2010.
  • Learn to drink only water. For real.

Marriage

  • Stay Married.  (*wink)
  • Help Royce with his hobby business.
  • Plan a weekend away from everyone for us.

Family

  • Be involved with the children at school.
  • Get back into the Sunday morning church routine.
  • Take the kids to the beach a few times in both the fall and maybe once when it gets cold. It’s the best place in Texas to experience a change in seasons.
  • Finish the bathroom.
  • Completely redo the boys’ room.
  • Continue preparing for the 2010 Summer Road Trip!

Friends

  • Be open to what I for see as an upcoming season of change where friendships are concerned. I can’t explain this. It’s just something I sense is coming. And I need to remind myself to not take things personally and to let a lot of things go. My goals with my friends are more emotionally based vs. physically based. I do not plan on attending very many “Girls Nights Out” this fall or chatting on the phone about this and that. I’m moving out of that phase of life and looking forward to a less chaotic fall. (In relation to this past spring.)

Sarah, I hope you don’t mind I’m working on stealing as many of your wonderful ideas as I can. You give such good blog fodder. Just what I needed to restart my sputtering blog.
