Evolving Auto-Biography
The Ever Evolving But Still Concise
Auto-Biography of Sarah
*Edited to say that this auto-biography changes a few times each year. I don’t save the old versions, but I guess I should have because it would have been fun to look through and see how things have changed in my life ever since I started this Auto-Biography – which was on August 3, 2006 – so THREE years ago.
August 29, 2009 Update
God’s Daughter – Love you Dad! (Some things just never change, folks.)
Christ’s Sister – Thanks Bro’ for all you did!
Royce’s Wife - Yep. We’re still married! I know – it really is amazing. No. Really. You have no idea.
Adri, Ean, Hannah and Claire’s Mama – Yeah, I know, 4 kids are a lot, yes I know how they got here, yes I know how expensive they are… yadda yadda yadda….
Creative Home Education Overseer: Only if you count home work. The kids are back in public school! WHOOO HOOOOOOOOO
Home School Co-Op Teacher: NO! No. No. NEVER again. I don’t even like home schooling my own kids, much less other people’s children. What was I ever thinking??
Non-Traditional College Student: Yes. You read that right. And I was even invited to join a fraternity a few days ago. I laughed hysterically! Degree Plan: Bachelor of Public Administration (basically a Political Science degree that does not require 4 semesters of language) then straight into the Graduate Paralegal Program.
Ballet Teacher/Student: I teach ballet a few days each week. I take ballet class a few days each week. I’ll be taking my Gr. V Teacher’s Exam next June. I can’t wait!
Aspiring Runner: 5k in September, 10k in October and 1/2 Marathon in November. I go for the distance, not the time.
Blogger Extraordinaire!!!! Need I say more?
Household Manager: I am way too busy to actually do much around the house anymore. Sometimes I get a wild hair going and we get some major project or decluttering accomplished. But for the most part I rely heavily on Royce’s willingness to be Mr. Mom these days. Hey – I spent 10 years doing nothing except being a wife/mother. Those 10 years of hard labor have paid off with a husband willing to do housework and able bodied children who know how to clean, cook, and organize.
(Not that they always do. And I’m sure the house is messier these days now that I’m preoccupied with dance/school vs. home schooling/cleaning. But – seasons come and go. Thank goodness!

I don’t know what to say other than that I think you just might be my hero.:-)
Don’t forget…you’re still my number one daughter! …and a cool girlfriend as well.
ran across your site. I believe it was you that brought a meal after my son was born. We are in a nice church now. Grace and love. My daughter loves ballet. She did the nutcracker 2 years and we met Marsha Holliman. Nice to see your site, Ione
Well hello there Ione! Yes, it was I – I brought beef vegetable soup – my Mom’s recipe. I actually remember that. How weird. How is everyone now? I don’t remember what church you were at – we were at the same one? Seems a lot of people have left. I haven’t seen or spoken with anyone from that church in almost 4 years – or rather – with anyone who still attends that church…. I’ve talked to LOTS of people who’ve left!
Where does your daughter take classes? I know Mrs. Holliman and will actually be studying with her this week and next while I get ready for my Gr. III Teacher Exam.
It really is a small world, isn’t it!!
I hope to talk to you soon! I always thought you guys were a neat family and wished I had gotten to know you better!
Found your site (with help) and enjoyed reading your thoughts; especially loved the seamstress. Enjoy college!
Sarah,
Can you e-mail me some pictures of the dress and pinafore that you made for Kyleigh a few years ago?
I enjoyed reading a couple of your blogs. You are still my hero.
Thanks,
Gina
Hey sarah! its your other counsler from camp. i just wanted to say hi and i wanted to see where your studio was at in texas cuz im down here now and i havent danced in forever! hope all is well =]
CARI!!!! I’m in San Antonio. Where are you guys at? I just recently learned how to 2-step and Texas Waltz and am planning on going out for a drinkin’ and dancin’ night with my girlfriends (and respective husbands of course!!)
Hi Sarah.you posted on my blog recently, so I thought Id stop on by….
I was interested in your ballet experience. Did you begin as a child? I just started adult ballet at the community college (british ballet) and it is a good pace for me, but I am so terrible/uncoordinated/inflexible. I used to run a lot, and gave that up when I hurt my footsie. Now I do pilates, swim, walk, cycle, and BALLET. I really love it, but my techinique is so lacking. Its difficult to find an adult beginner class that doesnt wanna “squash’ everything into 8 week sessions, and just REPEATS, REPEATS< REPEATS. I think I could get it down better if it were more purposefully repititious. Sigh.

Hey Monica!
You need to find someone who is teaching a technique class. I train in the Cecchetti Method, but you can also find teachers utilizing the RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) and the Vaganova method quite easily. (Vaganova is Russian.) Any of these styles of classical ballet are great (Ok I do have a preference – obviously!) but good technique is good technique! That’s my motto! It is very hard to learn ballet if it is not systematic and purposeful. It’s a lot like math. You didn’t just jump into Algebra and THEN try and learn all your addition facts. You started at 1 and moved to 2 and so on. Same thing with ballet. It has to be progressive. Otherwise it’s just frustrating.
Or for me – that’s how it always was and still is! BTW – I have danced all my life – but I didn’t discover method teaching (utilizing a specific technique) until I was 19.
sarah
Im up in killeen. That sounds like a blast id love to out to a club around here i heard they were good but being pregnant and all kinda puts a dent in the plan
Just got around to reading this, Sarah.
I did take a technique class, just finished. For adults, hard to find. So signed up at the community college. The teacher is laid back but does repeat a lot, which i REALLY like. I agree-systematic. I hate when they make you move on just to ‘cover’ more or do a routine. I just want to really do barrre work for now.
She teaches the British method. I dont know many differences.
She has classes again in February, but til then, i have to wait.
OMG…I miss you! it seems like it been forever. (well it has) Camp is coming up soon and you better be there. KEEP IN TOUCH
Hello Sarah,
This is Viola, you might remember me as Kiki’s (Akylah) mom. Kiki and I have been browsing through the internet looking for old friends and after doing some research and entering your name on Google we ended up on this page. We could not find Mandy. Kiki would love to speak with Alaina! We were just so amazed to have found you and to see that you and Royce have four children now. You have a beautiful family. Adri has grown up a lot and I think when we left Texas you just had Ean.
Kiki is now 13 and has grown into a beautiful young woman. Wiley and I had another daughter in 2001. We named her Amani.
We would love to hear from you!
Viola
Hi! Did a blog search for “home routines” and found you! Neat blog! Very encouraging to know that I’m not the only mom out there who feels a little nutty around the edges. . . (-; I have not dared take on the going back to college thing yet. My bachelor’s degree is a perfect education for a stay at home mom who wants to keep what little sanity I have left! Best of luck to you in your endeavor in Public Administration! Stop by my blog and say hello some time! http://www.ruralmomof3.wordpress.com
